The Entrance Farmers Market

Photobucket

The Entrance Farmers Market this morning, fine and sunny, crowded, lots of stalls. Bought my home-made soap, vegetables and home-made sausage rolls which I wished I had bought more of and put in the freezer.

My new favourite Youtube video.

Natalie Imbruglia's song, Torn
mime by David Armand.
(or signed language!)

Today I will be venturing into the garage to find the Christmas tree and decorations. Wish me luck, I hope they aren't buried under mountains of useless clutter I have accumulated this past year.

Sunday 23 October 2011

I went into The Entrance today to see the
huge display of Chromefest2011 cars and activities.

:-( Unhappy, I miss out on collecting the free tickets to MasterChef at the Horden Pavilion at Moore Park, in Sydney I would have loved to have gone. Oh well, maybe I should have been confident I would win and checked back to the site.

I'm a little pissed off.

Apparently, its the Baby Boomers who are to blame for the debt crisis.

The BBs who were advised by their WW2/depression era parents
  • to save for a house as soon as they started work
  • to not buy that shiny new car but make do with a second hand car,
  • to pay more superannuation each pay day so they can retire early.
  • to save for the luxuries rather than get a loan.
Funnily, enough I seem to have had this same rant a couple of years ago.

No mention of self-funded retirees?

Anyone else getting a little tired of this?

Tonight, I am staying over my brother's place and tomorrow we have an appointment with the Palliative Care Team of Westmead Hospital. I live 100klm away up the coast and it takes me about an hour and half to get through city traffic/freeway to get to his place.

As he lives alone we need to set up some care services for him - an emergency telephone bracelet, on-call nurse. He prefers to live alone and so we need to let him decide how things are managed.

The pizza man has come
and I have been told to eat it before it gets cold. lol.

Aussie Bloggers Conference 2011

I had a truly fabulous day yesterday met up with some lovely bloggers (like meeting celebrities) who I had been commenting with online and chuckling over their Tweets over the years. Completely forgot to take photos as the conference was so well run, I had to concentrate on who was speaking and watching the room's activities. Loved the meet'n'greet game at the start

Maybe someone else can list all contents as I've had to call in the SES because the ceiling in my bedroom now has a hole in it as a result of the horrendous deluge of rain we have had these past two days in Sydney and the NSW Central Coast. More here

St Patricks Day 2011 Flashmob
Central Station, Sydney, Australia

Central is the terminus station for all intercity and interstate trains coming into Sydney. I know this station very well as its my start-off point to explore Sydney and its surrounds. Exiting to catch the Light Rail down to Paddys Market and Darling Harbour, of going further to Star City Casino, the Sydney Fish Markets and its restaurants and further still to Glebe Markets.

Tuesday 15 March 2011

I had problems with an aged client but after reading my report my supervisor and the manager had a meeting and have now removed client from our service. Client will now be outsourced to a private agency.

My health (stress) and safety (manual handling) were at risk. I have been an aged care field worker for 8 years, I work 5 days a week so have extensive experience working with the elderly, frail and disabled. I have had dementia care training and I have always been able negotiate with difficult clients but this lady I could not come to a common ground to work with.

Thankfully, as a team rep in branch meetings I have had contact with our manager and she listened and acted when I have expressed concern on OHS issues in the our field work/workplace.

Cyclone Yasi to on its way to Northern Queensland

Yasi will cross the coast Wednesday night and is expected to gain momentum and strength. It is currently a category two and predicted to be a category four on touchdown.

Looking at the WeatherChannel site you can watch the movement of the cyclone. To me it looks like a giant comet is about to crash onto the coast.

I am sitting here watching the #qldflood coverage and I can't believe speed of the water STILL flowing down the streets on its way to the Pacific Ocean. Householders are getting lots of help from volunteers to remove damaged furniture, mud and debris from their homes.

Wednesday 12 January 2011

I have been on Facebook to check how my nephews living in Brisbane are going ... Adam's street has been closed and the flood is on the other side of the hill, they are hoping the hill protects them.

Later, I was on the phone to my sister and Adam rang to ask his dad to go on ebay and put a bid on for him. :-) (on a bike he wants) as he now has no internet.

Brisbane River currently at 4.26m and rising.
